We woke up on Sunday morning ready for an adventure! We were headed to Haleakala to bike down the volcano. Nana and Taylee were planning a big day of fun in the sun at the pool hotel. Although Taylee thought biking sounded pretty fun! Me, Kent, Skyler, and Poppi had booked the "deluxe" tour which allowed us to take a van tour to the summit of Haleakala and take look at the crater. Haha! We chose the wrong day for a tour of the summit, and we encountered sleeting rain and gusty winds when we arrived, and the fog was so thick we couldn't see a darn thing. See the photo below? That's how much of the crater we saw too. None.
We decided we better take a photo of the crater model in the visitor's center to prove we were actually there!
Well, since we couldn't see any of the crater, we resorted to playing silly games in the fog.
They took us down below the fog to 6700 feet, and we were ready to bike the volcano!
The views were pretty spectacular, and this picture doesn't do it justice.
We had one very frightening incident in which this massive plant tried to attack us and eat us! Arrrgh!
We had one very frightening incident in which this massive plant tried to attack us and eat us! Arrrgh!We stopped for lunch on our way through a series of small towns, and ate at the Kula Sandalwoods. Yummy sandwiches, but they had no french fries. Darn health nuts. :)
We had a fun dinner that night at Bubba Gump's, but unfortunately our one picture didn't turn out. Darn.
