Yet another opportunity to record and store in my memories, the cuteness that is Taylee . . .
* Back in October we brought Taylee to Primary Children's for her craniofacial clinic appointment. This is an afternoon of torture, meeting with 5 different doctors at the same time as 40 other children. The stuff nightmares are made off . . . However, Taylee enjoys playing in the waiting room, and was soooo excited to go to mommy's hospital! She wanted to meet all mommy's sick babies. Unfortunately this is against NICU rules. To help appease her disappointment, I tried to make her excited to go see Cindy, mommy's favorite friend at work! (my favorite nurse manager, really!). She was a tough sell but eventually decided Cindy would be an adequate second place to the sick babies. We got in to see the first doctor and Taylee told him "we are going to mommy's work, and I can't see the sick babies..." then she looked at him very seriously and said "You know Cindy?!" The poor doctor looked at me in confusion. I could only laugh!
* Taylee is 3 months into her school career, and has already started whining about going. (Despite the fact that she LOVES it!). Must be a kid thing? A couple of weeks ago she started telling me how she didn't want to go to school first thing in the morning. With a little prompting she revealed that "sometimes at school I get tired." I told her "well, tell Miss Amanda you are tired. Then you could lay down for a few minutes." She looked at me with disdain "For Goodness sake's mommy! I'm tired right now!" This, while standing in my bedroom, having just woken me up at 6:15 in the morning. Good Grief!
*We are BIG fans of Cafe Rio. Taylee enjoys their cheese quesadilla as well as their black beans and rice. Recently we tried a new mexican restaurant in town, called the Cantina. Which BTW, we all really enjoyed! Her kids quesadilla was served with refried beans and rice. She took one bite, then looked at me and said "how come it's not good like Cafe Rio?!" I guess refried beans aren't her thing...
*While styling her hair last week she asked "are you putting gel in my hair?" "Yep." I replied. "So now it's jelly!" she pronounced.
*Taylee has a few imaginary friends. Sometimes they have interesting names. Things like Callilay, Natalay, or Melanie (created by poppi, who has less imagination than Taylee when it comes to names). At naptime recently, Taylee was playing with her imaginary friend. She told me "mommy, me and my friend are going to play in my room for a minute, then come back and play in the kitchen. Is that a good idea?" "Sure," I said "but I am going to set the timer for 10 minutes, and when it goes off it will be nap time." "No," she said "don't set the timer!"
"Why?"
"Because my friend doesn't want you to! And don't say those words mommy!"
"What words?"
"Nap time!"
*The latest and greatest thing around our house is Christmas songs. Taylee insists on listening to them incessantly. She was riding in the car recently with nana and poppi, listening to "O Come All Ye Faithful." She likes to sing along. Well, sort of. Her singing skills leave a bit to the imagination, but it sure is cute! She stopped singing just before the final line in the song, Christ the Lord. My parents questioned her - "why don't you sing Christ the Lord?" Her reply? "I don't do Christ the Lord." Maybe we better start going to church!
